I grew up in Alexandria Virginia (right outside of Washington DC) but I’ve since took up residence in New Orleans. I’m the creator and co-host of the Black Law and Legal Lies podcast, a weekly legal podcast for the culture. By day I’m an IT professional and by night I’m a musician/producer, photographer, and podcaster. I’ve suffered from anxiety and panic disorder accompanied by bouts of depression for as far back as I can remember. I believe my condition is part genetic and part environmental. I’m not ashamed that I take medication for my anxiety disorder, hence the name Dan On Drugs.
Paul (aka P from Charlotte)
I too grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and spent most of my life in Virginia and Maryland before relocating to Charlotte, NC a few years ago. I was 19 years old when I became a firefighter/EMT and I served my community for 8 years until I was fired by the county for a work-related injury. There’s an episode of Black Law and Legal Lies named FIREDfighter which details my backstory. I suffer from PTSD and Bi-Polar II.
We’ve known each other for 25 years and have both been strong advocates for mental health awareness in minority communities. We hope to continue to spread awareness with this podcast for all communities.
